Amiga 1200 Tower Project
« on: October 21, 2012, 04:25:06 PM »
Im in the planing stage to make my 1200 look good.

The Powertower is way to ugly to look at compared to modern cases.

So ive decided to get a new good looking PC Case to make it shine again.
Im gonna rewire all the ports to fit a custom made I/O shield because a custom backplate just looks bad. And with a modern case its easier to manage cables to give the 1200 the respect it deserves.

Im gonna keep it classic enough so no Mediator og PPC card. Im gonna stick with my ZIV busboard and my 040. The reason for this is that my Repulse soundcard just is too awesome.

But to match the case im going for an AmigaOne keyboard and Black mouse from AmigaKit.

Im gonna post pictures of the project along the way. So stay tuned. It it goes as planed it will be awesome and fit my Music Studio nicely.

List of what i got:

Amiga 1200 Rev1d4 Mainboard
Apollo 1240 with 32mb ram
Zorro IV Busboard/Winner
Piccolo Graphics Card
Xsurf
Repulse rev 3.2 soundcard

List of what im gonna get:

Catweasel MK2 Anniversary Edition
CF IDE HARD DISK DRIVE
Indivision Mk2
AmigaOne Keyboard and Black Mouse
Subway USB
Fast ATA
Cooler Master Cosmos II Ultra Tower
Cybervision 64/3D

I know the project is insane and might fail..But its worth it..
Retro is my life...

Good luck with your project, sound like a fun one. The only thing I think you should reconsider is getting the CV64/3D. It is a great card, but your current one has a build-in monitorswitcher, which the CV64/3D doesn't. If you need more graphics ram, go for the Piccolo SD64 instead.

If you are from europe forget indivision aga, because you graphics card, you can get flicker free hires picture with LCD-TV and that would be one monitor solution just like idivision aga.

Only benefit over lcd-tv is super modes like 1024x768 wich you woun't need .

Best would be to get the native amiga picture into the piccolo. But i gave up finding a cable for that but found an adapter http://www.retro-kit.co.uk/page.cfm/content/9-pin-to-15-pin-VGA-Adapter/ and if that works it would be awesome

Cosmos cases are just super, I use them on all my PC builds.
