driver for 3 buttons mouse
« on: January 22, 2004, 07:31:30 AM »
Hi all,
I change my original 2 buttons amiga mouse for a ps/2 (with ezmouse) 3 buttons pc mouse.
Now which driver is good for me in order to use to middle button ? (and if this driver can make me use the third button in quake/quake2, that would be fantastic).

Don't know about ezmouse, but the Amiga supports 3 buttons out of the box.. So if that adapter is in the least bit sensible, it should direct the 3rd button to the right pin and it'll work out of the box.

Try it with MCP or some other util that lets you sample keypresses for shortcuts. You should get a middlebutton event when you click it.

At least my mroocheck works just fine with a three button serial mouse.

If the adaptor is fully Amiga compatible then it should be relaying the middle-mouse button events. Without using any extra software, Workbench 3.0 (at least) allows you to use the middle mouse button in file requesters to immediately jump back to the Devices list. Very useful.

I would recommend you to check FreeWheel on aminet. It is a nice commodity which can assign actions to other buttons and supports more than 3 buttons. At least that is what i know  :-D

Thanks all.
I already have freewheel for a mouseman+ optical from logitech but it was not able to seperate the 3rd and 4th buttons so I have a nice 4 buttons mice with wheel but only 3 could be defined for a specific task.
I did not think I could use it with a mouse... which lacks the wheel. It still should be somewhere in a drawer inside WBstartup.
