@AmigaWorkbench

Just use a single RCA cable if you just want to test how how you'r machine functions, and if you want good quality picture buy this one: http://www.ggsdata.se/Datorer/scartami.php

I have an amiga rgb ttl cable if u need one. Are u in europe? It has 6 pins on one end and 23 on the amiga end. Pm me if interested.
And a round 8 pin cable with 3 rca (video and 2 audio ) on the other end. Cant see how many pins ur monitor connector has from ur picture.

Dump the idea of the other cables (specially SCART!)
a simple RCA cable will run you about $1.00 USD. Might end up with monochrome display, but it will let you know if it works.
OR use the one you have - cheaper still!
A2000 GVP 40MHz \'030, 21Mb RAM SD/FF, 2 floppies, internal CD-ROM drive, micromys v3 w/laser mouse
A1000 Microbotics Starboard II w/2Mb 1080, & external floppy (AIRdrive)
C-128 w/1571, 1750, & Final Cartridge III+

well I'm biased but the A1000 IS the Amiga before Commodore tainted it!

today we can upgrade the Fast Ram to 8MB and also use IDE drives as DHO's:pint:(check out the new hardware goodies from kipper & others at Amibay), not to mention the great flicker fixer by Jens for those that don't have their old monitors anymore.

nothing against the A3000 but the for me it doesn't have the historical respect and Ferrari like mystique that the 1000 has.

Thanks midway!

Yes I'm in Europe, Scandinavia.

I will try the "single RCA" path first. I will let you know in case I need a rgb ttl.

Cheers!

Ok,

I tried to hook up the C1081 monitor + A2000 using one of these:

http://biltema.se/sv/Kontor---Teknik/TV-ljud-och-bild/Kablar/Scart--3-RCA-84691/

("Anslutning: Hane - Hane" indicates male connectors)

It didn't work. The screen is still white.

The computer starts up and the fan sounds, however, the green light (under the red Power light) doesn't illuminate, and I also inserted the Amiga Workbench disk but the disk drive didn't seem to respond.

Is it safe to conclude that I'm dealing with a hardware failure or have I missed something?

Thanks in advance.
