Scan-doubler and Picasso II on an A4000.
« on: January 21, 2004, 08:40:45 PM »
I am planning on retiring my ageing, big black bordered MicroVitec M1438S monitor.

I want to know whether an internal scan-doubler/flicker-fixer output will work okay with the Picasso II pass-though.

My plans are to have both Picasso II native screen-modes and Amiga native screenmodes displayed on a 31kHz monitor.

Anyone had any experience with a similar set-up?

Thank in advance.

I'm almost certain that'll work. I was planning on doing the same with my setup, but my plans fell through when I couldn't get a scandoubler.

I really loved the passthrough feature of the PII. I wish more graphics cards had it. Now I have to use a switch with my CV3D.

I have this setup on my A1200/060 rig. I have a Voodoo card and an internal flicker fixer. One cable comes from each output to a switchbox. So whatever I need to run, all I have to do is flick a switch.

Rob72, I have been using an A4k with a PicassoII and a scandoubler for nearly 6 years now. No problem at all. The signal's frequency is doubled and goes to PII's input. The PII output is connected to a Philips 17" SVGA monitor. The result is fantastic. I can use workbench at 24bit and play games with the same monitor.  :-)

For anyone who needs THIS information; the PicassoII's lower port is for Scan-Doubled output attachment - marked to Amiga here:

Thanks for all the info guys...

I knew which input/outputs to use on the Picasso II card...just wasn't sure whether the Picasso II accepted a 31kHz input...

I will give Power Computing a ring tomorrow and order one...and then i can retire the Microvitec monitor to my A1200 set-up.

Thanks again...
