purchase new hardware...
« on: September 07, 2012, 06:59:30 PM »
It's been a while since last time i purchased any hardware for my girlfriends.
I would like too get them to display a better picture on a LCD monitor.

However.
On amigakit the ecs scandoubler is at backorder, and the aga scandoubler (both beeing the indivision) are not yet in store.
And on vesalia both items seemingly is in stock.

How reliable is vesalia today? have purchased from them earlier and have never had any problems.

About amigakits stock. how soon will the ECS version come in stock?

I've never purchased anything from Vesalia, but Amigakit is usually open about dates when they should be restocked.  You should drop them an E-mail or even PM amigakit here on A.ORG.

I don't mean to rant any amiga resellers, there are only a few around and they have an important role in our community, however I'm just sharing my personal experience with Vesalia.

I've ordered a product from Vesalia (ACA-1231) and it didn't work with my setup. Naturally I sent e-mails asking for help in a polite manner just asking their advice. Since they didn't answer me I've forward the same e-mail a couple times stating I really could use their technical support.

That was like a month ago, they never answer me back.

It was a problem with the mobo revision that I sorted out. But If the product was defect I was really in a lot of trouble to get any help.

I'm glad their business is so good they can simply ignore customers. For me, personally, I won't risk buying from them again. :\

I've ordered several things from Vesalia and found them to be friendly and helpful.  The last item was the Chameleon64.  Since then I've emailed them for advice on a couple of things and received useful information.

I must admit then I tend to use them more for my 8 bit side and Amigakit for my Amiga stuff.

I would have after discussing the issue with them. It was just a technical support issue after all but I guess my case is one in a million.

The ACA-1231 rocks in my living room A1200 btw! :)

I shall keep that in mind.  Back when I got the Chameleon you didn't have them in stock.  So you've taken delivery of some of the new Chameleon batch?

To anybody reading this who enjoys 8 bit computing, grab one.  They're great fun!  Also, Amigakit stocks IR CD32 game pads which work with the IR sensor on the Chameleon so now you can play games wirelessly as it will emulate the input from a joystick.

I bought my Indy ECS from Vesilia, with no problems whatsoever.  Got it in about a week and a half, and it worked flawlessly.

Ive bought things from Vesalia for about 400€ (~500$) over the last month and all orders have been quick and everything have worked fine, no problems at all with them ever.

I have no problems with Amiga kit either, spent 100-150€ over the last month there without any issues, it takes a bit longer to receive the packages sine the payments are on pending a lot longer then vesalia, but in the end no problems and everything works.

Both a great places to shop at for Amiga users, I don't favor any of em over the other, I buy where the stuff I want is in stock :)

This is my personal experience and I have never had problems with any of them ever in the past. Tho I have been lucky and never gotten anything that was defective (besides a cable once but that was just a simple solder joint I had to re-solder)

Well Amigakit and Vesilia seem to very reliable.  I havent ordered from Vesila but they are one of the oldest dealers in the world. Amigakit has fulfilled my orders to my satisfaction.

However, your experience is a byproduct of all the fanboyism where you get ostracized for criticizing any amiga company even if you are in the right.

Indivision and Vesalia seem to walk hand-in-hand; stuff made by Indivision shows up in stock very quickly. Both Vesalia and Amigakit have big holes in their support system, although compared to Elbox everybody gets a silver star on their calendar.

I have been reading these will sync down to Amigas, I probably won't be able to buy one for a month or so but I want LED because I don't think my 1084 will last forever.
I have also seen 15" monitors at best buy (local big box retailer) that has rca jacks for games along with the vga and hdmi ports. They may sync down to 15khz on the rgb side but I don't know that for sure.
