btw aint ib update supposed to come with os4 ? (for free i mean)

AFAIK 2.3 will be a free upgrade for us 2.2 owners, and a "light" version (better than a "demo" but not quite the Real Thing) will be bundled with OS4.

I expect to be corrected if I've misunderstood that. :)

Re: Ibrowse! hd invalidation
« Reply #15 on: January 07, 2003, 12:48:49 AM »
is not the invalidation problem more a problem inherent to
ffs' limitations rather than ibrowse itself?

any program that is writing to disk when the computer
crashes will invalidate a ffs partition. I guess
ibrowse does crash a lot though...

So... what happened to the IBrowse New Years Eve
update? Did I miss something?

No, nothing missed, just waiting like the rest of us.  New Years Eve was a target date.  I do not know, but there were some more bugs that showed up on the Ibrowse site, so it may be that they are trying to nail them down first?  I do believe that they are close as the bugs report shows 3 open for Ibrowse and 3 open for ICE.  I am hoping that the remaining bugs are not big ones.

sometimes, (at least with the FFS).  Is this no longer an issue?  So has MUI also been integrated into OS4?  (Remember all the griping about MUI being
a resource hog?)   :-?

Yeah, Ibrowse was prone to do that when it crashed. For my solution I bought PFS and installed iBrowse on a PFS partition.. No invalidated drives since

I also use IBrowse... It used to crash on a regular basis... but since I fix that problem(some libraries were conflicting), it only crashed 1 or 2 times in the last couple of years!

I just hope to see JAVA included in OS 4.0 so IBrowse can use it! (and also for me to program in JAVA, of course)

See ya!!

@Mitrado

Unfortunatly JAVA will have to wait a while. That will arrive when DE runs on top of AmigaOS. JAVA is a large step!
