Connecting to video
« on: January 20, 2004, 07:52:53 PM »
Can one connect a A1200 to a video machine without using additonal hardware such as a genlock? I tried using a scart cable but the result was a failure.

And anyone have any idea why my signiture doesn't appear?

umm, i donno :)

but firstly when you say scart cable, do you mean scart connector? or have you tried simply hooking up the composite cables?

also i donno about this so some1 tell me, why don't you just shove the RF cable into the "aerial" part of the machine and then you're ready to record?

If you just want to record A1200 output to a video tape, then yeah - no problem.  SCART, Composite or RF will all work - just the same as using TV with Amiga.  Might have to tune video in or select external input.  If want to record from then I think need digitiser (but I don't really know; I'm probably way out of date) and if you want to control video with A1200, then I have no idea :-D

You need a slight mod to a normal scart cable.

Pin 8 of the SCART cable should be connected to +12V of the Amiga via a 1K resistor, this will cuase your VCR or TV to switch to the AV socket.

See this file on Aminet for pinouts:
