DJ Nick's AmigaOS boot sound
« on: August 17, 2012, 11:31:47 PM »
---------- By DJ Nick -------------------------
Hi guys

Here comes my 1st booting sound in WAV format... Its standard 16bit STEREO wave file.

https://rapidshare.com/files/1149323039/djnick-AmigaOS-boot1.wav

This is just test phase [done in Renoise very quickly].

Please test it and let me know how it sounds and will all Amigas play it.

On my SAM it appears that it plays on small interruptions [I guess it loads sample and plays it on the same time and CPU is 200%] :)

I plan to create around 10-15 booting sounds in different styles, but I prefer AlienBreed / Aliens style ;)

Let me know what do you think.

Also, I have noted this has appeared on YT out of Amiga music videos :-)

I don't mean to be a Grammer nazi... But the subject needs an apostrophe. The word "Nicks", means to steal... X

I thought it was a cool little sound... until it said "Welcome to Amiga System", then it just became way too cheesy for me to use for real...
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

I have to say, I agree. The sound is fine, but the speech ruins it. There are reasons why speech isn't generally used in startup sounds. Language issues aside, it just sounds, well, cheesy.

Yeah, DJ Nick is trancy spacy guy unlike I and it will be always felt in the art.

Could everyone sample local girls and send him hq mp3 so we can make localized versions?

OMG a legal file on Rapidshare, you are going to ruin their reputation!

Enjoyed it, but too long for my boot up sound on my SAM and wasn't fond of the voice.

Was playing for a good while after my system was fully functional and booted up with SSD's.

There's a reason there has never been a boot voice in 36 years of computing, it can't be done right, it will annoy you and end up sounding like a '50s sci fi movie.

Hmmm ... HAL Voice for those that dislike happy females?
Localized female voice? Short edit without the voice?
Surely some job for Nick, but if you provide HQ samples
of whatever saying its AOS Booting, it could be edited.

Whatever you produce there should be a non-voice version available.
