R/C Aerochopper for Amiga
« on: August 11, 2012, 04:09:10 PM »
Does anyone know if the remote control flight simulator R/C Aerochopper for the Amiga ever actually landed? I just found the demo after reading about the Atari ST original and it speaks of a 1991 expected date of release.

Check the demo:

Yes I saw one sell on ebay not long ago.

Here is a link to one with a BIN, although the seller is a profiteer of the greatest order...

Yes it did indeed. One of my teachers in high school was into rc choppers and I got to use this back then on the schools a500. It was great. About 5 years ago I stumbled across one on eBay and bought it. It was the controller and disk only. The controller is a futaba controller and is very high quality...and very light as it doesn't require batteries. It plugs into the serial port iirc. The software had both chopper and fixed wing aircraft and allowed variables like wind speed, direction etc to be changed. I keep meaning to make a video and put it on YouTube as it is a very rare piece of kit. This is only the 3rd one I have ever seen that pencils is selling, the other being my teachers and the one I own. I paid only about £26-£36 if memory serves.

I wonder if this was by Greg Gorby, the original author of Aladdin4d.

He went on to program RC Airplane software for Windows.  I think it was called "Sunday Flyer" and "RC Flight Simulator".  The Amiga software you showed in the video looks very similar to this later software (although obviously there are graphical advances).
