For me the timing of this post is also perfect, as I just picked up my

If I remember correctly 40MB HDDs (Seagate MFM 5.25" HH) were selling for approx. $800.00 CDN in 1988/89. At least that's what we sold them for installed in the store I worked for.

Say did you work at Comspec on Wilson just west of Duffetin St?
I grew up in that neighborhood and spent endless hours in that store as a teenager just typing basic programs from magazines into the 64's and Amiga 1000's :knuddel:

All these years later and I still feel the excitement when I turn on my A1000 and constantly searching for the mythical Comspec SA1000 scsi side controller

I did work for Comspec but at the 84 Wingold Ave. location, I was one of the primary Amiga Techs in the service Dept and also wrote device Drivers for the Comspec SCSI Controllers. Before that I was the Service manager at a computer store at Woodbine and Danforth Ave. I still have a Comspec SA1000 SCSI Controller but it's got new ROMs so won't work with anything below KS 2.0 I've also got an 2Mb AX1000.

@ shaf

Awesome stuff! Those were the days eh. I went to the wingold store a few times but mostly spent my time at the Wilson Ave store.

So any chance you know where I can find a SA1000 for my beloved A1000:D
