formating using sfs
« on: June 24, 2012, 01:57:07 PM »
hi

I m using winuae to set up a hd for amiga 4000. I have also set up a directory and called it work for the pc side and have placed sfs inside.
I then booted into install 3.1 and set up my hardrive using sfs instead of ffs it then rebooted and showed all my partitions which now need formating but when i execute command work:sfsformat drive dho:name system
I get unknown command
sfsformat failed return code 10

I have put sfsformat.c and smartfilesystem into work folder
Does anyone have any ideas

the SFSFormat command must be copied in SYS:C/

and the smartfilesystem executable must be copied in SYS:L/

Then open HDToolbox and setup your new partition for SFS/0

Does that mean i have to install 3.1 first then go to hdtoolbox and set up sfs that way?.

No, you dont have to. You can install filesystem to RDB making copying fs handler to L: redundant. You dont have to uses SFSFormat command unless you wish to use special options (.recycled enabled/disabled/visible, case sensitive file names) and you can copy command anywhere you want. But you can use standard Format dialog from Workbench to initialize your disk and go with defaults.

SFSformat.c is the source code for SFSFormat, not the executable!
