Can you show me or point to me where to put the jumper? Thanks

On the first picture i posted i marked the first two pins that needs connection in for the first run so you can get the software out of the card.

On the second picture of the deneb card you can see that they have placed a jumper on the exact same spot that i marked with a red sqauar so there is where you want to place it.

The other picture i posted that i marked in the lower corner.
Now compare that old picture to this.

At the point i marked they have placed a jumper on top of those two pins, its not hard, you have two holes and two pins that goes into them you cant do it wrong as long as you place them on the two pints i have marked.

Kawazu, I will be receiving the jumpers I ordered from amigakit next week. I only have one more question: Should I leave the case of the Amiga open exposing the Deneb board, while I connect and turn on the system, so that I can download the software and applications? Then remove the jumper when finished and close the case?

If you have an old hard drive or an old CD/DVD ROM drive lying around then you might have a jumper on the back of them you can use (They're the same jumpers you use on IDE drives to make them master or slave, or use on some SCSI drives to set the ID number).

From experience, leave the case off until you have your Deneb software installed and the jumper removed.

One word of warning, make sure you have the latest copy of INSTALLER handy.  When I tried to install the Deneb software onto OS3.1 it failed and I had to upgrade to the latest version of INSTALLER (downloadable from Aminet).  I think OS3.9 works OK.

Once you have your USB stack working and it recognises a USB memory stick then go to the Deneb website, follow the links and download the latest software using a PC to the memory stick and then update the software on your Amiga.

Once you have your Deneb card working you'll never be able to use an Amiga without it.  :)

@ Kawazu

Belive it or not, it wasn't until today, and after 2 weeks after placing my order with Amigakit, that I received my jumpers. So I have a coupe of questions before installing my Deneb card this weekend:

1. What is the correct way to connect the two USB adapter cables (the ones attached to the plate) to the pcb? Do the metal contacts in the black plastic connectors face up or down? How can I tell what is the right position? Someone else in this forum told me that I have to be extremely careful when connecting those 2 cables, or I can fry the pcb.

2. About the jumpers. It seems in your picture that the pins that I will jump are the first two ones from right to left facing toward the daugther board, right? And is the jumper placed perpendicular to the axis of the jumper board, on top of the first two pins?

If you could please send either a small hand made drawing or a close-up picture. In any casde any help you can give me will be fully appreciated.

All the software that you need is already on the deneb card, you just have to change a jumper on the card and there will popup a new icon on your desctop just open that up and all you need is inside.

Just remember to remove the jumper when you have taken all the files out.
(do NOT change the jumpers when the amiga is ON)

I have marked this photo so you can see where to put the jumper, the top marking is just to show what you are marking for :)

And this is how you place it inside of your amiga

Regarding point 1, as you can see in the second picture posted above, the black wires should face away from the edge connector (the part that plugs into the Zorro slot).

There are 10 header pins all in a row. Set the card so that those pins are facing you. Connect the first USB cable so that the black wire covers the rightmost pin. The remaining wires in the cable will cover the next 4 pins. Now do the same for the second cable, this time for the rightmost pin that's still exposed.

Hopefully another user can post a more detailed photo.

Exactly, the jumper is placed to the far right when you have placed the card in the zorro slot on top of the pins, the pins will be inserted into the jumper.

Can these updates be uploaded after I finish installation, removed jumper and closed unit's case?

deneb has actually three ports, two internal to connect with a cable extension to a free rear expansion slot. and one external mounted directly on the pcb. you have to be very careful to connect the cables right way around, otherwise you might fry your deneb. also be careful with the external port, while you cant misconnect the cable it is quite fragile, you should place much pressure on it.

you can download current version of poseidon (4.4) right here:
http://www.platon42.de/index2.html
the instalation is well documented and automated. read the guide.

while at it you can download the last firmware for your deneb:
http://www.e3b.de/usb/firm/DENEB_V11.lzh
check what version you have before the upgrade.

what concerns the jumper. i dont know what you mean. jumper is jumper, usually they are found laying around.
i can get you more extensive help when im back with my hardware.

Today I finally connected my DENEB card and jumped it as per above installation instructions. I got a couple of green lights coming up steady in the board, but nothing is popping up on my WB to allow me to finish installation (download software).

Am I missing something? How can I download the required software from the board?

Check that the icon isn't off the visible screen area.

In my case, I first installed the software off a clean WB3.1 install and the actuall Deneb disk icon was off the screen below the visible area.  I had to scroll down to find it (or alternatively refresh your icons into columns).

I also suggest that you look after this internal USB hub http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/nzxt_iu01_internal_usb_expansion/

I'm using this in my A2000 with my Deneb to power all my USB devices from the PSU instead of draining power through the zorro port and the Deneb lines. It protects the Deneb and gives enough juice for any power hungry devices such as external hard drive or CD. My front USB bay is connected on this.

Re: More Help RUNNING DENEB card in A3000 desktop
« Reply #27 on: July 11, 2012, 07:07:07 PM »
Now, that I'm done with the h/w installation and struggling to make the USB ports to work. I downloaded everything during installation of the card, removed the jumper and closed the computer case, but I'm now sitting down not knowing what to do next to start using this expensive thing.

I was told I need to run Trident from the prefs drawer so I did that just to find an error message saying " Failed to open muimaster.library. This application requires MUI!

Can someone give me some guidance on how to get this DENEB USB controller working? BTW, I'm using Workbench 3.9. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks. I found that, but I can't make it fit in one floppy to port it to my A3000, because the file is too big.

Any suggestions?
