amiga is amazing
« on: June 13, 2012, 05:32:17 PM »
Dear Friends:

Amiga is amazing for doing cartoon style animation.
Think "eric shwartz".
The amiga is really slow for 3d rendering,
but with moviesetter is good enough to make fantastic
animation (toon) and does not require high speed or high memory.
I've been using moviesetter with amiga, and is just superb.
An 030 amiga with 18mb ram is enough to make high quality cartoon animation.
If you want to do cartoon animation, amiga is amazing.

I remember doing some basic animations back on either my standard 500 (maybe I did have an extra 512kb expansion) or standard 2000 .. it was fun and I was amazed :)

Yup, that's the favorite business for me and my bro. At first we were stumped with the 2MB limit, but later learned how to reduce the number of colors :)

I still smile when I remember the time I went to the local arty-farty cinema to see one of those "Festival of Animation" films. Right in there in the middle of stuff done on Crays and SGI hardware was a bit done on an Amiga 500 with Deluxe Paint. The audience loved it, although I did note a lot of folk from the local Amiga user group in there. ;-)

I too remember using deluxe paint for animations. It to was very memory hungry, especially considering I only had an  A500 at the time. I do recall creating a Terminator 2 inspired animation where the tiles on the floor morph into the terminator:flame:

My first ever animation was done in Deluxe Paint III on an A500.
It was a smurf falling off a cliff and meeting a grisly end.

God, it is great being back with real Amiga people talking about real Amiga things, instead of those MAC people that have infilterated the Amiga boards waving their MAC emulator flags.

Yes I have used moviesetter and how about movie director, cartoon animator was pretty good to. Dpaint was good if you wanted something done fast and easy. Yes, the Amiga was Amazing during its time. I still enjoy mine alot. There were so many software programs that came out to help you with animation, that I would have to write a book on animation with the Amiga, but that has probably been done.

I have no idea what your talking about, so here is a doggy with a small pancake on his head.

MorphOS is a MAC done a little better
