So, is it possible that someone found/has the XXXX number of A1200's, and Petro knows him and ordered 60 of them to resell??

I'm wondering about the economics of shipping from India to Germany for shipping again worldwide. Let's ask McEwen if he remembers where the last of the AI stock went and maybe we can just order them directly and cut out the middleman.

500 may be the entire stock some company in a far away land is hoarding in a warehouse, and maybe they want far too much for them AND all the money up front.

I could go out tomorrow and get 10,000 Sony laptops at trade price but because the profit margin is so low and the money needs to be invested up front I would never do anything like that.

So for that reason Petro is to be commended for doing what he is doing.

(apart from signing the boxes...please stop doing that if the box is in mint brand new condition lol)

Another possibility is that when Petro was first contacted he was told that there were 500, the folks who owned the warehouse saw a big pallet and thought it contained more than they though it did, but when they looked closely there were only 60.

Not to worry, I just picked up my brand new Amiga 1200 today from Petro! Sorry but I could not wait to open it. If I can make it to the next meeting I will bring it around:)

It fired up straight away without a hitch. All my software works that came with it, including some from the 80's. It was well packed and every thing was in pristine condition. There was only a bit off fading on book work and cords but who cares its the main unit itself that is important.

Finally I have upgraded from my A500 I bought when I was 14 to an A1200 at the age of 38!

I bet your A500 runs rings around an A1200 by now. You have probably increased the turbo boost to 28 psi putting it on the edge.:sword

I  think I have the key of the broken warranty sticker enigma.

The sticker  says mine is an A1200 FR but it doesn't have the French layout keyboard (AZERTY) but the UK one (QWERTY + 2 blank keys).

I  therefore think the Amigas were open by some third party to switch the original keyboards to UK layout  keyboards.

Mine says A1200 GR on both at the bottom of the A1200 and on the sticker at the top of the floppy disk drive. And my warranty sticker was broken.

One point of interest, what are the serial numbers of your A1200s? Mine is "Model A1200 ID No. 530318" and the sticker says:

GR
  5640696530318040068402

Btw; inside my unit there is a stamped date inside the top-cover (next to the LED-board) saying 05 DEC 1995. Only a couple of more days until the 17th birthday of my A1200! :knuddel:

Seems like Petro is in full force since he returned from the US.
Already replied to my Facebook message, saying it was ok for the payment to go out a bit later.

Can't wait to hold that little masterpiece in my arms. For me those old computers are really akin to the 8th Wonder of the Ancient World. Amiga did a tremendously fine job. Especially when compared to today's hardware, which seldom lasts two years.

Anyways. Can't wait to create my first game on it. It will either be a classical point and click adventure or a pre-rendered game like Myst (I've really got the 3D itch lately. Especially after finding out about that early Cyan masterpiece, The Manhole. 3D really can be another form of art. Except of 3D animation. That's just a huge pain in the butt ).
