Marrying a CD-R to Toccata sound card
« on: January 16, 2004, 10:21:40 PM »
I would like to record CD music to HD using the Toccata's recording facilities and listen to CD thru Toccata. A similar job would probably be simple on PCs I guess, but the Toccata only features a 3.5mm (mini-jack) AUX2 connector for input and no SP/DIF connector (which is what the CD-R uses for its output). What should I do to get what I want?(!) (No prostitution though.:-o)
Suggestions are welcome. Cheers.

There are a number of programs to record 16 bit audio to HD using the Toccata.  HDrec comes with the driver software, and there are others such as Samplitude Opus, AudiomasterIV, etc.

As for playing a CDDA disc in your CDrom through the card, use Songplayer (from Aminet).  Set the CDDA prefs to your SCSI device and unit number, and CDDA tracks will be automatically listed.  Songplayer will read the raw audio data and play them to your chosen AHI device.

Remember most CD player programs will simply make the CDrom play the disc by itself.  You could connect the audio from the rear of your CDrom to the aux input jack on the side of the Toccata card, and use ToccataMixer to control the audio path if you wanted to do it this way.
