I have to take a moment to brag about something that works so awesomely.. I am talking about the latest nightly build of AROS..
I have an intel box with a VIA chipset motherboard (1Ghz). I had an extra hard drive lying around, so instead of risking my windows installed hard drive to AROS I decided to stick in the other hard drive as a primary and install AROS to the hard drive. The installer to the hard drive worked great (though I went to lunch for about 45 mins while it installed).
All I can say is wow, I have what looks a lot like my old amiga, with better resolution and color and better demos and running a lot of fish and aminet programs compiled and it's SOO FAST.. I never dreamed I could be happy with an OS or the speed of execution as I am with AROS, everything I liked is there, but everything I didn't like about the Amiga isn't..
All I can say is way to go guys. I am showing this box off at the next MACRO Amiga User group meeting.. It's just as functional as anyone's Amiga there minus TCP/IP and it's a heck of a lot faster.. All I can say about this is WOW GUYS you are so awesome.. You have made me believe in the platform again..
Now if I can just get some demos of MorphOS/Pegasos and AmigaONE/OS4 to one of our meetings. We plan to support all three of the neo-platforms because we all win with each of these.. Plus with AROS being intel based it's likely to push more of those people around here to a powerpc based machine like a Pegasos or AmigaOne...
PS With AROS, even my favorite feature a clicking floppy disk is back (where is that no click source code)
