I to say that Amigas are great fun as long as they're running OK, but my systems seem to be so patched now that keeping them running smoothly can't be a major pain in the arse.  My A4000 with its combination of Zorro and PCI cards as been known to throw a major wobbler at times when you install a new program or update a driver.  The best thing about an Amiga compared to Windows is a "backup" just means using DOPUS to copy one hard drive to another and "restore" is just doing it in reverse.

Minimigs are a joy to use.  SD cards full of ADF files = no read/write errors.  :)

yeah. no doubt. I had a 1200tower with g-rex and it was like that...

My current 1200/060 is no issues. The Indivision AGA MK2 really makes the system, although the DVI has one worked 100% on one monitor I have tried, but that will get better I'm sure. if it gets the graffiti support that will be sweet. I tried to run the graffiti software off aminet. does not seem to work.

I won't ever build up another classic though.

My Minimig 1.1 is totally reliable and that is the future... I only miss out on a few things that need 020 CPU instructions, but I can't wait for the 2.0 and 060 daughter-card. I know it will put my 1200 to shame.

I hope some day they make a daughter-card with PPC/060 combo. That would be interesting.

Yeah those are cool but i prefer the standard A3000. I like the desktop cases that CAN'T fit 5.25" devices. It seems ironic somehow...

I think the towers are sweet but they look ugly when you put in devices such as 5.25 drives that don't match the size and colour properly.

Hi,

@kesa,

All Amiga's can use the 5.25 floppy drive, they like all the other floppy disks could be set up external of the case, I believe the number of the external 5.25 disk drive was 1020. Used to have one, then one day I tore it apart to see if something would work, it didn't but I never put it back together again. Big Mistake.

Are you agreeing or disagreeing? I think 5.25 drives are too big. I prefer the smaller 3.25. But that's just me.

Anyway i think the A3000 is interesting as it is a contradiction. It was meant to be a workstation aimed at professionals at the same time they left no room inside or outside for 5.25" expansions. Oh the irony...

@Kesa,

Actually the A3000 was designed to be a Unix work station, only trouble is Commodore screwed this up to somehow, they made the Commodore Unix to expensive. Therefore no one bought it. It was a big waste of money. So the best machine they ever made failed, it was to expensive for the Professionals to use, and way to expensive, with little innovation for the home types to use.

Are you sure you are not mistaking the A3000 for the A3000T? The tower was designed to be used by sun systems but the deal fell through. I believe it was called the A3500?

Also i'm not sure the A3000 was designed to be a UNIX workstation. It could accommodate UNIX but it wasn't designed just for it though. Commodore noticed that users were putting accelerator cards into their A2000's and other stuff to beef them up and they realized there was a market opening for a high performance Amiga that didn't need upgrading straight out of the box. That's where the A3000 came from. At least that's how i see it. I was a bit too young then to really know what happened.

*EDIT* The A3000 was not designed to use UNIX but the A3000ux was. Those are 2 different machines.

Rodland is such a good game.

Decided to ressurect this Amiga chat thread. Dunno if people would be interested but you never know :)

Been playing with AMOS and Backbone after Cammy gave us the backbone tutorial. Takes me back to when we would bedroom code on the c64. Don't know why I skipped the Amiga in terms of coding. On the C64 a group of us at school would code text adventure games. They were crap but we loved doing it lol.

Also I have been getting into Perihelion again. However for the life in me I can't remember all the rune codes for the spells.

Thanks for the ressuruction :)

I am currently playing a round of chess in chessmaster 2000 on my 1200 while watching a few episodes of Andromeda :)
I feel that it's a good combination to get my mind off at nights since I am currently on my 10th day as a non smoker :) *holds thumbs*

Congrats about the stop smoking thing. As a healthcare professional I am obviously all for it ;)

Chessmaster 2000? Don't recall playing that one (checks lemonamiga). Ah yeah I did play is lol. i remember the guy from the title screen. It would beat me every time on anything other than easy.

Actually doesn anyone remember a demo for a game called Operation GII. i often wondered why this got canned as Obitus was a pretty cool game.

Thanks! Im doing my best :)

Chessmaster is quite hard but one of my favorite chess games, lemonamiga do not show the "3D" mode, that's how I play :)

I never had the coverdisk of Operation GII back then but I wish I had, looks exactly like the kind of game I would like to play right now :)

To bad it never was completed, I like Psygnosis, the code must be gone and buried ages ago :(
