Amiga 500 Replacement Floppy?

Hi all, I recently purchased an amiga 500 with a faulty floppy drive and was wondering where i can get a replacement from? Am i able to use an amiga 1200 floppy drive?

A1200T: M1230XA 50Mhz 68030 w/64mb,DVDRom, 80gb hdd, Realtek LAN Card, Mediator LT4 + Radeon 9250 128mb(used for fast ram), Spider USB Card, Voodoo 3 3000 OS 3.9 +bb 1-3

AmigaKit sometimes have replacements. Failing that you couks always consider a HxC. I know its not a real floppy drive but it means your not having to mess around with possibly corroded and corrupted floppies.

Thats a great idea but i would much prefer the real thing i will see if there is any at amigakit :)

Well i have checked out amigakit but they have no floppy drives for the amiga 500 :(


Does anyone know where to get a replacement ? will an amiga 1200 drive work?

If it'd work, I have an A2000 drive, but even if it does work, it'd cost a boatload to ship it to the UK :(

An A1200 drive will function but not fit inside the 500's case correctly. Buying a replacement from airey36 on ebay is a safe bet though, his stuff is good.

Please check eBay. They have several drives available. I just bought one for my 500.

I have bought bits off airey36 myself. Never had an issue with his stuff :)
