Need Help !!!

Hi,

I'm trying to install a new A1200T tower system with busboard ZII, buddha flash ZII, 40gb HD, and CD ROM.

My problems are with the accelerator card, an ACT Apollo Turbo Mk3 030 40/882 40 Mhz with a 32 Mb SIMM, I tried everything, switching SIMMs, checking if any IC aren't fixed, and even added a fan over the 030 40 Mhz, ok always the same problem, system boots but after a while it resets ! and then it doesn't boot unless I turn off the machine. I'm running out of choices, I only managed to install 3.1, and IDEFIX 97, but if I try to install OS 3.1 from the Amiga OS 3.5 CD ROM, it stucks in "8% preparing icons". So I feel my hands are tight. I hv another  problem, in the process, I've lost the RDB of a 6.4 gb disk I hv, so any suggestions are very welcome.

Hi Omni-
I'm no expert, but I did have trouble with that card on my A1200.  The trouble went away when I plugged everything in again and used a new (stronger) power supply.  Of course your tower probably has a new strong power supply, so..... at least I'm cheering you on from the sidelines!

Strange one that... it boots then resets....(?)

The only thing i can suggest is that it seems to be a heat related problem...

Have you reseated the Rom chips on the motherboard?
(check them,  as the heat may cause them to loosen)

And you do have the correct libraries for the accelerator? (the ones on the disk!)

Try it without the accelerator fitted...
- And use the hold two mose buttons down trick, when booting... -

Thanx for replying, if I tear out the Turbo board it works albeit with only 2 Mb, not enough to install anything decent. So must be something wrong with the Turbo board ... I will reseat ROM 3.1 chip's as suggested. Power supply is really good so that won't be a prob I used it with my Blizz PPC and many more stuff than this one has, but I'm really tired and frustrated!

Why don't you just buy yourself an Amiga 4000?  You can get them on eBay for less then $350.00.  The Amiga 4000 is a much nicer computer and it will cost less then what you are trying to do with the Amiga 1200.     :-)
