@Rodomoc

I actually used to use a similar board with amithlon, so its pretty likely you'll have some success with it. Two pci slots could potentially make things trickier, but if you can get either sound or networking supported through linux side drivers, or find a suitable pci riser card you'll be good to go.

@shaf
Unfortunately Amithlon only really supports up to 1.5gig of RAM, anything beyond that will stop it working. More realistically 1gig, but there are rare occasions where a person can get 1.25 or 1.5 supported. It's definately worth using kernel3.x  or 4.x though too, although an athlonxp is old enough that you'll probably get away with 2.x and earlier kernels.

@thread
To clarify things, at the moment amithlon has no 3d hardware acceleration. There is wazp3d, but for amithlon it's only software rendered, which while looking pretty, is varying degrees of slower (depending on amount of eye candy enabled). In the future this may change, as Ratte has been working on an openpci driver for radeon cards (up to semi modern cards) that has full2d acceleration (already shown working, a few videos are on youtube), and I believe he's also planning on adding 3d support as well, which would be awesome :) I dont have any "insider info" on this by the way, just what he's said, and what Ive asked on public forums like eab.

Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.

@fishy

Thanks for the help, I'll pull out a 1GB RAM stick and retry to see if I can get any response.

I usually stick to 1GB or less, because I'm a freaking cheapskate. I've gotten it to run on a Pentium 2, all the way to a Pentium 4, but I never have had an AMD to try it with (I've had  supply issues, I get all my PCs from a parts bin at a computer consultant shop.
My machines:
PowerMac G4 MDD 1.5ghz 1.25GB 10.5.8 & MOS 2.7
Mac Mini C2D 10.6.8 2GHz 3GB 250GB HDD
MacBook Retina 16GB 256GB SSD 10.8
iPad 2

Need a part for a PC or Mac? PM me, I\'ll let you know if I come across it.

OS X trumps Windows on every level.

MorphOS, OS4 and Classic Amiga systems are the only ones who are real \'Amigas\', not that joke AROS or Amiga Forever.

OK Status Update, Amithlon Works on the Following Hardware:
ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe Motherboard
AMD 2500XP CPU
1 GB RAM in Slot A1
nVidia GeForce FX5700 (AGP)

It will not boot from CD but setting a Small Partition and using the Kernel 204nf2 works, I'm going to attempt to use Kernel4 and see if I also get good results.

Fishy was correct as soon as I removed the 2nd 1GB RAM Stick I was able to boot.

It would appear that you can add the Dell Dimension 2400 series to the list. I just installed Amithlon on a 2400 last night and it works like a wet dream!

Added GeForce 5200, Sound Blaster 128, and Kernal 4 for the note.

EDIT: I meant 2400 not 2700 series.

Looks like you can add 9500gt pci-e to the list! :) I'm using it on an EMachine T6528 with a muti-boot set up.

MicroXP with AmiKit

Amithlon

AROS
