gvpscsi.device question

Sometimes I get random gvp errors or read/write errors.

Also, hdtoolbox does not work correctly even though i changed the setting in info to gvpscsi.device instead of scsi.device.

Computer is an A2000 with a GVP Combo accelerator/scsi controller.

I noticed that I don't have gvpscsi.device anywhere on my hard drive. Do i need it ?

If i do need it where can i get it from ? It is not even on the GVP disk. I heard it should be in Expansion in the system partition, is that correct or did I hear wrongly ?

the gvpscsi.device should be autoconfigured from the GVP combo card's rom

sysinfo or similar program will tell you what version of gvpscsi.device is configured

It sounds like you have SCSI termination issues. The GVP cards give errors but still work when one end of the SCSI chain isn't properly terminated.

If the autoboot jumper is set to disabled, there is a file that you have to put in the expansion drawer to make the Amiga recognize the card. If you autoboot, the firmware on the card does that for you. The disk image with the expansion drawer file is here: http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/gvp4008

I'll second the termination statement.  I had numerous issues with my GVP A530 Turbo due to termination problems.

Also, you should be able to do

version gvpscsi.device

to get your current version.  If you can find one, you will very much benefit from installation of a GuruROM.

I had done version gvpscsi.device and I have version 4.12
