How can I know, is Amiga game NTSC or PAL?????
« on: April 05, 2012, 04:02:31 PM »
HI!
So, I downloaded Lotus 2 etc. (NOTICE that LOTUS is LEGALLY downloadable from internet, so I hope no one starts to shout about "pirated Amiga games"!) And saw, that game was NTSC (Irritating black block at the bottom). Tried to download another version, but no dice. Is there some way to check the game's region than transferring file to Amiga and test it? That way is WAY too slow!
Thanks!
-Eemil
Just some beginner stuff: 2 Amiga 500s, external FD, 512kb expansion mem, RGB Scart, some random joysticks , Amiga mouse (Tank model) and some floppies... And a dead Commodore 64C with Datassette cassette drive and RGB->composite wire. And some tapes, self made with computer and normal recordable cassette deck :)

If the file isn't labelled (accurately) one way or another, I can't imagine how.

Best answer is get an Amiga that can switch between PAL and NTSC, then it won't matter.
3 Commodore file cabinets, 2 Commodore USB turntables, 1 AmigaWorld beer mug
Alienware M14x i7 laptop running AmigaForever

Sadly, the best librarians are pirates.

If you didn't want to pirate these days, how on earth would you legally purchase games today of yesteryear?  Besides purchasing originals from ebay on possibility oxidised floppies?

I have to agree with tone. Unless its labeled right then there is no way of telling. I have downloaded loads of games only to find its been misslabeled as PAL when its NTSC.

Ok, it is impossible. But hey guys!? I told you not to even mention about laws OKAY?!!?! Lotus 2 is ALWAYS free and legal, as you can see in the back2roots. But I think same way with Darkage. We can't get those classics we want to "legally" and always when speaking about 1988-1994 Amiga games downloading from internet is the same crime than downloading the latest Xbox 360/PS3 game illegally from the internet makes me laugh!
But yes, I know that about 20 years old game is still under copyright © 1988-3000

Okay, but thanks for fast answers! :)

Why don't you switch your miggy to NTSC to get rid of the black block?
