In the '80s people on the Internet still cared about having content in their posts; nobody would have been using the Brain-Fart Broadcasting Service. Even in the '90s it took them a whole decade to really stop caring. And people didn't need a third-party mediator to their every interaction that takes their information and sells it to avertisers, so they wouldn't have bothered with Facebook, either.
