Ntsc / pal ?????
« on: March 31, 2012, 10:01:19 AM »
Ok, I sent Another World adfs to floppy via Serial cable. I played it a while, but then I noticed, that There is annoying black block bottom of the screen, also more annoying thing is that the game is running very slow, and music and sound effects are not in right time with the picture.
My Amiga 500 is PAL. Is the Another World, I have, NTSC version? And if it is, where I can get the PAL version?

Also, how to know is the game I download PAL or NTSC?

Thanks!

Just some beginner stuff: 2 Amiga 500s, external FD, 512kb expansion mem, RGB Scart, some random joysticks , Amiga mouse (Tank model) and some floppies... And a dead Commodore 64C with Datassette cassette drive and RGB->composite wire. And some tapes, self made with computer and normal recordable cassette deck :)

Generally if you run a NTSC game on a PAL unit, the screen properly wont fill 100%.   I've got a few WHDload games that only seem to fill just over half of the screen, I think its due with them being NTSC game on a PAL unit.

I've found some forum discussions that seem to point to the NTSC unit that can run 5fps faster than PAL.

There are a few games that support switching between NTSC and PAL. Perihelion is an example where you only need to push Tab and it will switch between regions. Maybe Another World supports this?

There weren't many games that did support this. It would say in the manual if it did. Can't remember, and can't find my manual, if another world supports this.

hi!
This is very irritating! :(
Another World is one of the best amiga games, but i can not find the pal version of the game.
I just noticed that the game also has many glitches, which makes the game almost impossible! Sometimes game's graphics are messed and game really slow.
Any ideas? I now really need help!
Thanks!

On Planetemu there are 7 different - some of them must be PAL - but may be french/italian/whatever language versions.

Some cracked versions had the PAL/NTSC switch too ;)

But you, piracy of 20plus year old amiga games is bad!! (Mandatory disclaimer before the crusaders get here)

@SilverZguru

I would guess that you are not playing the PAL version nor the NTSC version.  I think u might be playing the original French SECAM version.  I could never get SECAM versions of games to run 100% correctly no matter what I did.  I could boot in PAL and have problems or boot in NTSC and have problems.
Wanna try a wonderfull strategy game with lots of handdrawn anims,
Magic Spells and Monsters, Incredible playability and lastability,
English speech, etc. Total Chaos AGA

I don't think that it is piracy... What if the game is now freely distributable? But anyways, what's the difference between Out Of This World for Amiga and Another World??? Just found in hall of light that there is these two versions of game.
And maybe some of those are PAL, but it sucks if the language is French or like that :)

BTW: Is Great Giana Sisters, Worms or Lemmings freely distributable now if it so important to get LEGALLY downloaded images, which you can't get anymore. (Or at least I can't get PAL games what I want here in finland :) But hey, please I hope that this topic is not going to be "Legal or Illegal Fight"....

Another World is the european title. Out of this world is the US title.

You'll probably have better luck with the former

As far as language goes, there's english versions out there, but the game has almost no text whatsoever, other than, I think, the intro.

Yeah the intro has text and some of the end has text. The rest doesn't as far as I remember.
