Power Supply
« on: January 14, 2004, 07:49:36 AM »
I have A4000 elbox power tower with all the goodies but the computer has been very erratic on boot up! I was thinking maybe a larger power supply might be needed?

I have 2 IDE hard drives
2 floppies
cd rom
zip

I would like to add a scsi hardrive but this has not been easy task; with all the boot problems.I also have PIV card ,catweasel and Ioblix cards.

The stock power supply is a ATX Seasonic 235 watt.
Any brand you like? I think a 500 watt would be great but don't know anything about the brands. I have heard the Antec True Power is good choice but high priced!

Thank you         :-D

I don't think you're using up all the juice yet.

If  you want to be sure, you need to dig up the amp ratings for each of the devices (+ motherboard and add on cards) and see if they exceed what's written on the PSU's case.

Of course a 500W PSU doesn't hurt anything - at least you'll have a nice reserve for the future.
