Convert Amiga RGB to Component
« on: March 14, 2012, 11:03:08 PM »
Hi

I picked up a TV convertor box that allows you to connect a TV signal to a PC monitor (and even gives PIP for the TV signal).  Works great with the Amiga 1200 I have but is connected via composite so is fuzzy and ghosts the image.  It only takes composite and component as inputs.  I have tried connecting the Amiga output by scart to a hard disk recorder (Sony HX525) and then conected the component out from the recorder to the TV box.  Unfortunately this doesn't work - I can access the DVD recorder menus and play video from the hard disk but the Amiga doesn't show up and I just get a white screen.  I then tried running the Amiga through a video recorder  first in case the DVD recorder didn't like the signal and but this gave the same white screen.  I was sure this would work as the RGB cable works on my LCD TV and as far as I know the Amiga sends out a normal TV signal (I had previously sent SKy into the box via scart and then sent Sky via component to my TV so I know the box works?  Any help and advice would be much appreciated as maybe the Amiga output is not as straight forward as I thought.

PS. I don't want to connect to an LCD TV as if I connect to the PC monitor I can keep the Amiga in my PC cupboard permanently and I don't have to keep connecting and disconnecting it and hiding it under the stairs (thw wife just doesn't understand...)
