I think I already mentioned work commitments delayed me doing final edits on the video.

Dunno. But yesterday morning (according to what I read as posting time) you said:

Quote
Agreed, please ignore Transition. I'll make sure the video gets posted first thing when I get home from work tonight.

btw-the ignore Transistion task has been successfully completed by all the members now. Heh.

While I am not one for making promises I can't keep, nor am I one for promoting stuff that isn't available, I *AM*, however, one for a good joke every now and again.

I don't understand the venom in this whole thread. It's not like DiscreetFX has a development team the size of say, AutoDesk. Yeah, they dropped the ball, by not uploading the video first, but that's no reason to get upset about it (although, I do think Transition's comments about the 100k hits was a bit too much).

Remember, they made sure we still had Amiga.org and while some people here don't like it, I"m grateful they did. Otherwise, I wouldn't have an amiga site to still go to.

Great news.  I was using Aladdin 4d trying to teach myself how to use the wirebend tool just before I read this post.

Please release an updated Classic OS version as well (at least bugfixed).

Here is a screenshot from the new and improved classic version:

I was not really supposed to share it due to NDA. I'm probably going to get sued...

I'm working on the final editing so the video should be up later this afternoon/evening. I have made everyone wait so long the final product better be DAM good. While you wait please enjoy this classic Aladdin 4D video by its original creator Greg Gorby.

A video showing that the application is not vaporware and is up and running is now available.

This is just a temporary video until the longer more complete video is done.

nice to see something, even it is only a mac application. out of curiosity, it looks very much like aladdin 4D v5.0.  are there any new features in the next version, or is it mostly just a port to the mac (and later, hopefully, back to amiga NG platforms)?

@eliyahu

While it is mainly a port a few new features are added like an updated interface with artist drawn toolbar (thank you Mason from Germany) and a few other modern tweaks.

ok. that's what i figured. if/when the OS4.x version ships, i'd love to see some benchmarks comparing rendering time of the included sample projects (like the shuttle) on v5.0 and v6.0 to see just how much performance improvement folks could expect. just a suggestion. :)

thanks for posting the video.

I'm impressed, and look forward to trying this out - I hope you release a limited demo version. Intuitive model editing tools are a tricky beast to capture: allowing access to powerful tools and modelling methods for flexibility/accuracy, but keeping the interface clean and simple enough for the beginner...

The model preview/edit mode (I assume that's what we're seeing) looks good from an initial glance - always good to see an 'outline' display when rotating/panning dynamically to smooth the model movement.
