A1200 video port probs
« on: March 08, 2012, 01:57:00 PM »
Hey friends,

Hmm i have recently established that on using my video port on my 1200, i get a reasonablec picture but it has slight flashing light interference in the background.

This occurs on both my video-scart leads i have tried and more recently on my 8220 board i have tried. (They all work fine on my other 1200)

Looking at the video port itself the pins all look ok but there is minimal corrosion on the outer metal edge of the port (but not the pins themselves) Could this be contributing?

The 2b mobo had all smd caps renewed at christmas time, but not the through-hole caps.

Does anybody have any idea what could be causing the flashing/interfrence problem? I would value any reasonable suggestions

If the corrosion is minimal that would be quite normal and shouldn't cause any problems. If you do attempt to clean it though, i would be extremely careful as the pins can bend or break quite easily.

Maybe the solder of the rgb port has come a little loose ?

Did you try another power supply ?

Hi dougal, yes I have tried 3 power supples, including my 300w one from amigakit. If I open up + look at the mobo where are the soldering joints on the video port? Is the video port removable + replacable?

I don't think its the video chip as composite works fine

To check the joints you would most likely have to remove the motherboard from the case and remove the bottom shielding by undoing the screw things on each side of the connection ports at the back.

The solder joints will most probably be at the bottom part of the motherboard.

But don't quote me as i'm not sure.
