Red framed error, but not a 'Guru mediation'
« on: February 27, 2012, 07:23:12 PM »
Just to show this off.

I was running some programs on my Amiga 1000, while I encountered the error seen in the attached photo. The layout is just like the Guru Meditation error, but with custom text.

Don't know if this kind of errors are seen in other programs, but I had never seen the "unrecoverable" red -bordered errors being used as anything else but the Guru error.

Program in question is/was Textcraft 1.0, and the error was due to minimal amount of RAM that was available at the moment. The error was hardly critical as pressing either mouse keys simply closed the program and caused no restart. Nice type of red-border error, for a change!

Amiga A1000, A1060 Sidecar, A500, CDTV, CD32, 1084S, A1200, A1200 Magic Pack from Petro, ex-custom-case A3000T (now a complete A3000T), repaired A4000T and looking for more :)

The error is part of the program and nothing to do with the OS/Kickstart.

It's easy to make alert requesters say anything you like, I used to have a program in my C: directory on my Amiga back in the day that you could make custom ones with. But I suppose not many coders used them, as simple requesters were less intrusive and alarming.

That's the good old "Recoverable Alert"... You used to see them all the time on OS1.3 when you only had a few Kb of RAM... Once machines got 2Mb as standard they become rather more rare :)

I've seen them on my 1200 before, but I admit it was years ago that I last saw one.  I think they look fantastic!  Although I prefer the golden coloured ones.  I suppose it's down to personal taste.
