kickstart 3.9 does not exist, you can only go as high as 3.1 kickstart roms which will allow you to install AmigaOS 3.9. hope that helps :)

That is not true. There is kickstart 3.5 and 3.9 it is even mentioned on AmigaKit. it is customized and made by a person of course and then burn the kickstart 3.5 or 3.9 on a physical writeable ROM chip to be replaced with kickstart 3.1. I just want to know if someone out there actually have these customized ROM for sale because I would like to upgrade my Amiga 1200 to kicstart 3.9. It would be super cool to have that.

No, there aren't. There may be modified kickstart 3.1 roms that some people call 3.5/3.9, but 3.5 and 3.9 DO NOT EXIST. Also, I'd be careful about using these modified roms. They may contain bugs that aren't in the original. Stay clear of those things and use 3.1 roms.

Of course they exist..  ;-)
They just aren't an official product..
As you say, they are modified Kickstart roms..

When you think about it, 3.1 is just a modified 3.0 ROM...  ;-)

Many people have created their own 3.9 ROM images using a 3.1 ROM as a base and then adding in the additional 3.9 modules that normally get loaded by SetPatch. These images are typically softkicked using Flash memory, like the Algor or Deneb USB card, thus providing a de facto Kickstart 3.9.

A few users have burned these images to actual physical EPROMs. Each set is probably different, since each user will have assembled the images using different modules.

Someone might sell you one of these custom sets in a hush-hush private transaction. Amiga shops can't sell them because it exposes them to legal liability.

I installed custom burned 3.9 ROMS in my A4000 because I wanted to eliminate the double reboot.  It wasn't as compatible as the 3.1 ROM.  One of the things it wouldn't do is the double-mouse button on boot up plus LoadWB command, a very useful way to get into workbench when something is stopping your amiga from booting.

I put back the 3.1 ROMS.

I would call a 3.9 kickstart an 3.1 ROM with the 3.9 updates applied to it :)

While applying updates you might as well add in the Boing Bag updates.

So go and 'find' an 3.1 dump on the Net, follow the handy 'how to make a custom 3.9 ROM guide' on AmiBay and you are good to go!

I can boot straight into my 3.9 WB using my ACA, no reboot needed :)

Nice Ports on AmiNet!

Than you would call a 3.1 ROM a 3.0 ROM with some 3.1 updates and a 3.0 ROM a 2.0 ROM with some 3.0 updates...

I'm quite happy with the 1MB 3.9 ROM's I made for my A3000!

Kickstart 3.9 doesn't officially exists but the newer modules from OS3.9's BB2 "AmigaOS ROM Update" that resides in Devs folder can be used to replace the older Kickstart 3.1 modules to form it.

These modules are the following:

Using these instead of the 3.1 ones (as I wrote to my guide) will grant you a Kickstart 3.9 ROM that you can use it via kicking it (like for example with ACA accelerator's ACATune utility) or burn it into real 1MB EPROMS and mount it on your Amiga replacing the former Kickstart 3.1.

It works just fine and I've been using many of those for years :)

Real men have a kickstart floppy. ROM chips are for posers and imitators ;)
