boot menu pal option
« on: January 07, 2012, 03:40:36 PM »
Hi everyone and happy new year,

For Christmas, I was given an old LCD TV set. I tried it with my Amiga 1200 and bingo ! it works, at least for workbench, after changing the PAL type in the boot menu .
In case you're interested, the model is a Samsung LE15S51BP. It was bought in 2005 so may be still available as second hand.
My question is how can I switch once  for all the type of PAL I want in the boot menu.
There's three options as I recall it : normal, best and enhanced.
How can I keep my choice ?

There might be some hacks, but the early boot menu has to be set each time you boot up. You just select PAL.

The other part you are referring to is the OCS/ECS/AGA option. No reason to select anything other than "best available" unless you are running a piece of software that doesn't play nice with AGA.

So this display works for PAL games then?

Hi,

I knew about the boot menu, but thought it concerned only the choice of NTSC or PAL.
The strange thing is that I have to switch to different option of PAL to have a display.Pal is actually my type of display so only the option of PAL has to be changed.Otherwise I only get white stripes scrolling the screen.
As for games,I don't know yet. I 'll have to test it later as I don't have games currently installed. You know,I'm not too much into games. I'm more inclined to applications and programming. The next step is testing the cd rom I got and then maybe installing some games just to see the level of compliance.

I think what he is trying to say is that he changes from PAL to NTSC each time he boots because PAL display causes white stripes scrolling the screen.
Wanna try a wonderfull strategy game with lots of handdrawn anims,
Magic Spells and Monsters, Incredible playability and lastability,
English speech, etc. Total Chaos AGA
