WHDLoad probs/re-install?
« on: January 04, 2012, 10:37:37 PM »
Hi ppl,

In my continuing catalogue of problems in reinstalling various programs to my new hd i seem to have run into a problem with whdload.

I installed it, entered my keyfile into the specified drawers and inserted the kickfiles into the devs drawers.

It worked fine with loading games but the icons for each game start-up sequence were minified. So i tried to copy a few other icon files from my other 1200 (same OS 3.9) and now it seems whdload has given up altogether on my new hd. When i double click a game icon the menu bar says "Attempting to load WHdload" and it gets no further.

Seemingly it can't find whdload even though its still in DH0: C:

So i think maybe i'm best to delete it and start again. How do i completely delete whdload and make a fresh installation (as re-intsalling over the old version has not helped)

Or is there a way of diagnosing what the problem is at the moment?

How did you replace the icons?

Don't forget to keep the tooltypes from the original icons (the tooltypes are inside the icon information window)
A4000T, 604e@400&060@66, 128MB+16MB+Zorram256, CVisionPPC, VLabMotion, Toccata, XSurf100&RapidRoad, Prisma Megamix

A1200, Blizzard060@50, 256MB, Blizzard IV SCSI, FastATA mk4

hey fallenone,

i was just moving unarc and iotools file over to tools folder (which was absent for some reason) and i copied dopus and sysinfo over to systems folder.

I can't see why whdload has stopped working, is there a whdload guru here who knows why you would get a "Attempting to load whdload" on the taskbar but not get any further...(not even to the initial whdload registered to screen)

Is there an uninstall app for whdload or can i perform uninstall via cli/shell prompt?

@Snoozy
When you say "minified" what do you mean? Do you mean the game launchers had very small icons, possibly only a small square of a single colour? That sounds like they're OS3.5/3.9 GlowIcons being displayed on an OS3.0/3.1 Workbench... To replace those icons, you need to use something like Rawbinfo to copy just the graphics, otherwise settings get lost, which could be causing your problem. To fix this, try reinstalling the games themselves rather than reinstalling WHDLoad itself.

Also, install SnoopDOS and try run it before you launch a problematic app. It gives a log of all the OS calls made and can be useful to find things like missing libraries or incorrect paths...

Edit: Cool, glad it's sorted for you :)
