I used to play dynAMIte back in the day but I'm not sure if people are still playing it. It was much fun :)  http://amisource.de/dynamite/

There's also FreeCiv but I think only a very old version exists for Amiga.
A4000T, 604e@400&060@66, 128MB+16MB+Zorram256, CVisionPPC, VLabMotion, Toccata, XSurf100&RapidRoad, Prisma Megamix

A1200, Blizzard060@50, 256MB, Blizzard IV SCSI, FastATA mk4

Didn't Stunt Car and Firepower have options for modem play?

I have dynAMIte installed on my 600 but just waiting for my wifi card to arrive. I also have it on Amikit so if you fancy a game in the new year I would be happy to host one.

If I recall correctly Napalm has a patch on aminet to let you play it over tcp/ip rather than serial.

Perhaps some other of those style games may too (Foundation, Exodus 2140,etc.). I think maybe Descent Freespace as well.
Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.

This would be a great way to spend some time with other Amiga users.  We should compile a list of old Amiga games (and new ones too) that have the option to be played via an Internet connection, instead of a serial modem or null modem cable.  Then have a section of the forums where people could discuss them and make arrangements to play one another online.

I wonder how difficult it would be to hack the old games that allowed play via modems, or null modem cables to work via TCP/IP online connections instead?  There must have been many dozens of Amiga games that allowed head-to-head play via modem/null modem cable that could be converted.

I could see myself spending some time playing against other players online with those old Amiga games instead of the currently available mindless RPG games that are available these days.  The game play of some of our old Amiga games are better IMHO than some of the games today.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

Robosport in 1995 supported TCP/IP play out of the box, and was a fantastic game. Still is, actually!

What you may be able to do (I think there's a program already but it would be easy to write) is write a serial device handler which pretends to be serial.device, but actually connects via TCP/IP.

Of course in these days of broadband you can even just send UAE memory dumps to each other too.

I say, anyone for Lords of Chaos?

the only Amiga game that I ever played online was Quake. Not sure if the 68k version supports it though. And I guess you need a 060 at least.

Now that I think of it, HBMonopoly was fun, too.

hasn't that been done long ago? at least for winuae. I remember it worked with almost any multiplayer game.
