Mr Beanbag! AGA Released!
« on: December 30, 2011, 06:37:32 AM »
News from Toaks via amigaworld.net

The AGA game MrBeanbag! is now finished and released.

MrBeanbag! is released as βeta since there is still bugs/issues,but most likely they won't be fixed.

MrBeanbag! is a really fast paced Platformer/Jump'n Run game ala Sonic The Hedgehog and was meant to be a fully commercial title a few years back, the development cycle stagnated and the developers put the project on hold as they needed a break, luckily they picked up development again and released this beta to the community.

MrBeanbag! has 17 levels, great graphics and sound and it does feel like a final commercial product.

Just a little note: At least on my '060/50 A1200 tower, I have to use Privileged mode in Degrader to get it to run... otherwise I get Mr. Guru....

With that said, the game is pretty darn good! It's icon is left out on my WB screen, 'nuff said.

Looks great! I would say it's a little too obviously inspired by Mario and Sonic in places (the overworld map, the graphic tiles - flowers etc.), but that's not a bad thing in my book. Well done.

Just tested out this game, it looks nice but for some reason I find it nausea inducing (the movement). Weird because I never had this problem with a game before.

Even my kids who were watching me play thought the same :/ - pity.

Not tested yet, but looks like an amazing achievement ! What did you use to code it ?

About the "nausea inducing" issue ; hmm, I have to same feeling on the video. It's probably because the camera sticks too closely to the character movements ?

Great work, again !

Yeah, the way the camera moves is weird. I think it moves too much.

Huh that effect is really nasty. However good the game would be I couldn't possibly play it without getting really sick within minutes.

Is it true that the camera instantaneously moves 1:1 with Mr. Beanbag?

What camera movement algorithm do other Amiga platform games use?
For example: Superfrog, Turrican 1 or Turrican 2?

If the game is coded in Asm then why in the name of Motorola must the caches be disabled to play the game?
Wanna try a wonderfull strategy game with lots of handdrawn anims,
Magic Spells and Monsters, Incredible playability and lastability,
English speech, etc. Total Chaos AGA

Not my type of game, but I do agree with the criticism that the screen movement is excessive and should be rethought.  On the other hand, I don't like to discourage any Amiga development, so take these comments as constructive compliments, instead of complaints.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

(see news item, !beta!)
1/4x1/4 was used in superfrog atleast.

The AGA game MrBeanbag! is now finished and released.

Is there any way to contact the authors of the game? I've been looking for a email or postal address in their whole site, but without success. Any help would be appreciated.
