Just to clear up the ton thing here... You're talking about two different things even perhaps without realising. The plural of ton is tons, not tonnes. Tonnes is the plural of tonne, which is a metric unit, whereas ton is imperial or US. Similar, but different. Anyway, when it comes to using singular or plural, you need to consider in what way the quantity of the sentence object is being measured. For example, there is some money in the box versus there are some coins in the box. So, if you think of the mistakes as one steady flow of errors, then there is a ton (or tonne) of them. If you think of them as a discrete quantity then there are a ton (or tonne) of them. Anyway, ton (or tonne) wasn't meant for this sort of thing, which is why problems arise when it's used like that in common usage. I'll take of my annoying hat now ;)

Anyway, back to your normal programming... It would be interesting to see what someone has to say after going and visiting this company...

I live in South Manchester and so does one of the site moderators. Could we pay your business premises a visit and see all your stock?  Could you also provide us with a link to your ebay ID?  Thanks.

Inspection...

I like the british spelling - tonne or tonnes.

How about when using the word to mean "a bunch" or "lots", as in

"Do you have any A1200 US keyboards?"  "Oh, tons! (tonnes?)"

Franko was thrown out for speaking truth to power, but I'm not sure what that has to do with this thread...

Oh dear, I love it when someone is stupid enough to argue out of pure ignorance:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ton

The object of the sentence are the MISTAKES, the ton is simply quatifying them.

Would you say "There is a 100 mistakes" or would you say "There are 100 mistakes"?  Don't bother answering because you'll be wrong.

And the plural of Ton can be tons (see link).

Belfast education... oh dear:  "There'd be a ton of mistakes, that there'd be."

If he has a Belfast education, how come you are doing an impression of a Cornishman pirate?

:)
