Emergancy Disk someone please!?
« on: January 07, 2004, 03:03:58 PM »
I have AmigaOS v3.9, but since my whole HD is formated with the newest SFS and everything is gone, I have to start from scratch. I mooved to a new apartment, and didnt have time to do a Emergancy Disk.

Is there any good way to get the CD-Drive to boot without a Emergancy Disk?

Regards,
Michal

No. You need a bootable floppy disk with a CD-ROM driver installed. Without CD-ROM driver there is no chance to read the CD.

If you have internet access you can download and install IDEfix. It contains a CD-ROM driver (actually the same which is contained on the OS3.9 CD).

Well, if you have a CyberstormPPC or MK3 or a BlizzardPPC and your CD-ROM drive is connected to the SCSI bus, you can activate the CD-ROM driver which is contained in the firmware. So you only need a bootable floppy disk and have access to the CD-ROM drive at once.

Bye,
Thomas

Yes I have a CD-ROM and it works. It would be nice if you could send me a Emergancy disk, so I can get into AmigaOS v3.9 and start installing everything :)

You could install 3.1 from floppy then IDEFIX and get the cd-rom working enough to install OS3.9 and make a Emergency disk then do the installation at your pleasure.

A few hours ago I just installed OS 3.1 (off floppy) onto a formatted HD and used the cd0 device to mount my CD Drive (from internal SCSI controller, I have a 3000).

From there it was simple to make a 3.9 disk :)

All this is assuming you have 3.1 on floppy some where though.
