Seems to lack a postcode (etc...) requirement making the map very dull.

No thanks.

:angry:

explain me this? related to a global count? what have it to do with putting your system there in? I' don't understand some ppls. The page is in a beta state... and i have just 2 hands ...

btw. you can at least for now put your city in your user profile to spot you on the map. AND this is also in a beta state. looks then like this: http://amigamap.com/user/maw2k/?show=map  ....whit this data, i can extend  the actual global map in the future ....

*sigh

@maw2k

Keep up the good work and don't stress too much about the detractors.

Your efforts are appreciated.

I own an A500, A600, A1200 but haven't updated them simply because they are not used any more.  Once I get a permanent home I hope that will change and I will add them then.

By then I also hope to be adding an OS4 netbook and X1000.

@ajlwalker

but someone running similar project already would probably see him as 'detractor'.
they can't expect us to register at each and every one.

it is inaccurate as long as it doesnt meet the expectations.

If the expectations are that the numbers should be higher, maybe the expectations themselves are inaccurate.

@orange you are registered in just one Amiga forum? If not why? You have more than one Amiga? If yes: why? ....

@ajlwalker thx :)

forums are different. they don't really need any personal information, and they are actually (much more) useful.
besides, every Amiga forum has its 'specialty'. some are os4 oriented, some classic..

and no, I don't like registering every time at forum, either. for eg, having to choose unique username sux. there were some ideas about universal logins but they seem to have mostly failed.

According to this website less that 2000 users, and to top it off, less than 100 using OS4.1!

I find this an innaccurate map

Well, this poll shows that both OS4/MorphOS is about 1/3 compared to Amiga ("classic"), and that 54 people (of the people on this site taking part in the poll) is using OS4.

I would consider registering my Amiga's to your map, but as others already have pointed out, your map is inaccurate by design, and there are already several better maps that properly covers the *entire* Amiga scene...

:)
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

what the hell is inaccurate???? NOTHING!!! it is right now just not every user separately pointed on the map and right now just Amiga listed.

ok and now show me the "several better maps" ....specially those, which "covers the *entire* Amiga scene"

what is in general the problem in the Amiga scene? Somebody start a project. Some guys who think they represent the Amiga scene discuss it until its dead. A couple of month later almost the same guys are yelling the the Amiga scene is dead and nobody is doing anything any more.

and exactly because of ppls like you have also just map.minimig 1257 world wide Amiga owners listed. And they are online since 2009. But maybe this is the "*entire* Amiga scene"that you mentioned?

EDIT:  But now I see:

with a signature like "MorphOS is Amiga done right!" it is for sure that you are the *entire* Amiga scene and pissed of, that MorphOS is still not listed. I didn't knew, that MorphOS represent now the Amiga scene.

Why do you think it's inaccurate?

I don't know why I am bothering, but given that there are 100 X1000s in circulation and each is running OS4.1, then to have only 100 OS4.1 users is clearly inaccurate (given that only 6 X1000 owners have registered on maw2k's map).

If you are a fan of extrapolation, and given that 6% of X1000 users have registered, we assume 6% of all OS4.1 users have registered, then that would put the OS4.1 users around the 1700 mark.

Either way 100 OS4.1 users clearly underestimates OS4.1 usage I am sure you can only agree.

Yes, that's not an unreasonable point.  But maw2k's project seems to be evolving and there's nothing like a bit of friendly competition.

He may just hit on something really cool which will make everyone want to register.

It should also be noted it wasn't him that started this thread.

but OS4.1 runs not just on a X1000.

I dont know if its a good idea, but I could make an icon to show separated stats for os4. On the same way I can put then also MorphOS in.
