WHD Load probs
« on: October 31, 2011, 07:36:07 PM »
Hi ppl,

I have got the registered version of WHDLoad 17.0 on my second amiga 1200 3.0 rom and i am finding major compatibility probs compared to my main a1200 with WHD Load 16.9. I have tried copying my kickstart images via dopus from my main a1200 with 16.9 but still i am having probs with WHDload 17.0. This is not a memory probs as I have a 2mb SRAM card in my second 1200 which should allow around 80-90% of games to work, instead i am getting 20% (My main a1200 has 3.1 rom and a aca1230 64mb card)

So as usual i need some of you guys advice, should i try and copy my WHDLoad 16.9 from my main 1200 (where i have 99% success rate with games) to my second a1200. Where do i find the relevant files? I looked in C: and they don't seem to be there.

Or do i need to reconfigure WHDLoad 17.0 to ensure better game compatibility.

For the record most of my errors are a mixture of kickstart error (Eye of the beholder 2) or emulation 1111 errors. :furious:  Do i definitetly need the a4000 kickstart images as i haven't copied them over yet..

I found the best thing to do is have both versions of WHDLoad in your C: drawer. Just keep WHDLoad 16.9 named "WHDLoad" and name the new version "WHDLoad17" and manually go through each game and change the icon's default tool to "WHDLoad17" for the games that definitely work with it, and just leave the others the way they are. Or do it the other way around, name 17 just "WHDLoad" and change the icon info for the games that refuse to work with 17 to use "WHDLoad16.9" as their default tool.

Hi Cammy,

What is the name of the files i need to put in C: drive cos it looks to me like WHDLoad is installed into various parts of my system.

If i copy 16.9 from my main 1200 can i just use drag and drop to pcmcia cf or do i need to use dopus?

Will buying a 3.1 rom for my second 1200 make much differene?

Why is WHDload so tempermental :roflmao:

Ok, so i have downloaded whdload 16.9 but i see it is a lzx file. So i need to extract it on the a1200 and insert into C:

well i am completely stuck with the lzx program command line in shell. I have copied the 68020lzx file to c: and renamed it lzx. I have copied the lzxkey file to L:. But i am stumped by what i type in to the shell command prompt to unpack the 16.9 whdload file.

What should I type in the shell prompt to extract the file, bearing in mind the file 16.9 lzx is within the file drawer "newgames"

So far i have been trying (via help from its instructions :rtfm:)

lzx -x [newgames <16.9Whdloadlzx>] [newgames]

with no success :(

Anybody familiar with lzx?

Help!
