FastATA 1200 support in NetBSD
« on: October 28, 2011, 01:35:45 AM »
NetBSD has just got a new driver for classic Amiga hardware.

FastATA 1200 Mk-III/Mk-IV controllers from ELBOX Computer are now supported by the efa(4) driver.

Both IDE channels are working. It is possible to use any PIO mode supported by the FastATA controller.

It is possible that the driver will be further developed, to support the older editions of FastATA 1200.

Im not a NetBSD user, but its always nice to see support for hardware for older systems.
I might give it a try on my a1200 one day. Being that Im not particularly familar with NetBSD can anyone tell me please if there's likely to be any issues on a pretty basic Amiga? Im using an a1200+40mhz'040+32meg fast, plus Etherlink III pcmcia nic.
Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.

I suspect there might be issue with your Etherlink card. The only PCMCIA network cards which are working reliably on NetBSD/amiga are NE2000-compatible cards (cards which are supported by cnet.device in AmigaOS).

All your other components should work well.
