A3000 floppy disk eject button
« on: January 05, 2004, 02:04:50 PM »
Hello people,

I have just purchased an A3000UX second hand and I booted it up last night to find everything was working fine. Then I noticed that it appeared to have no internal floppy disk drives! After peering inside the left hand floppy hole I could see the floppy mechanism but there was no eject button!  :-o Does anyone know where I could get a floppy disk eject button for the A3000UX or failing that, an original internal floppy drive that would fit an A3000 case?   :-?

Many thanks in advance,

Mike

I know someone who bought 200 CDTV eject buttons from eBay (and has 190 left), but I don't think that would help much ;-)

Maybe the seller, has done some cleanings inside the case and forgotten to reseat the button again . . . .could be?

hehe this reminds me of a friend who had an A1200 in 1997 it fell off a table and the eject button was knackered so he had to take disks out using a pair of plyers
about a year later it died and he went PC but the moral of the story is....

well there isnt one i just thought i'd share it  :-)

@ Framiga

I never thought of that... i can't get the cover fully off, but i cant see the button between the front of the case and the main metal part, although maybe the button is lodged deeper in the case!  :-o The case is really hard to remove though, it only moves about half an inch so i can't see properly  :-(

Sometimes the SCSI cable gets in the way. Just lift the case up a little, and then try to slide forwards.
Anyway is the only way

i know that power computing sell internal disk drives for the A500/+/600/1200 so they might be worth giving a try, take a look on their website

Cheers HopperJF, many thanks.  Although A3000 internal floppies are not listed I will send them an email to see if they have a spare knocking around.  :-)

Thanks Steve, that looks promising but I need to know for certain if the button would be usable on an original A3000 case, cos the hole for the button is like the A1200 one (i.e. quite large).  :-)
