Slap it on the side a few times. That usually works for a short period of time. After a while slapping doesn't help anymore though.

When that happens do you then have to kick it. :-D

I only have 1 amiga monitor and that is a philips cm8833 mk2 that cost me 8 pound very good tube its like new picture wise. :-)
I once had an amigaone xe but sold it .

I have a C= 1080 monitor from 1985. (Same as 1084 but mono, not stereo) It has been shipped around the world a few times but still works!  The only mods I made were to drill holes to access the focus pot and vert height (to play pal games)  I 'd like to know who actually made this monitor, as it is so sturdy.

i've had a commodore 1084S for about 3 years although the monitor itself says june 1991 on the back sticker. it is still going ok, although it seems to get pretty hot after just half an hour of the power light being on (whether this is normal for these monitors or not i dont know) and a friend of mine has a similar monitor although his power switch is at the front, so whether on later models commodore put the power switch on the front, or whether its just his being a slightly different model i also do not know. but i have had no colour problems whatsoever (except for that time when it accidentally got hit onto greenscreen  ;-) )

Hmm... 1084.  Oh trusty monitor.  I used one for many years, as did several friends.  They do run a bit hot, which I believe helps speed up the "solder joint" ailment showing itself.

Other than that, a pretty rock-solid monitor.  I never used the power switch on mine (had one of those switched surge protectors) so I never had a switch problem.  If you buy the model that has the controls on the front, the front door to the controls is rather delicate.  About half or more of the 1084s in that model will be missing the door.  ;-)

I'm not sure, but it wasn't a Commodore exclusive. I have an Acorn Archimedes branded monitor, which is obviously a 1084S, but not labelled as such. I use it with my Amiga 1500 and 1200 :-)

I'm looking at the pictures of the mainboard silkscreen in the service manual and it says Toshiba. Which is strange, because I thought it was Daewoo. Between Daewoo and Phillips, they made the 1084's.
