I remember seeing clips of this film on various Amiga Format CD's as well, but I have never seen the finished product before.

You and your friend did a good job Dalemation :)

I thought the video was kind of boring and the rotating sketch/charcoal pattern visually nauseating.

Very clever work. The subject maybe dated, but clearly shows talent at work.

Exactly what I think of 99% of what's on cable currently.

I never expected so many good comments! Thanks :)
I will have to sort out some more Amiga animations I did at the time.

I'm surprised that there's some people here that don't realize how much work it takes do something like this.

Try animating just three seconds of hand drawn animation (45 to 90 drawings depending on frame rate) and you will soon appreciate the massive amount of skill required to do this.

You can't compare this to CGI animation...that requires skill too, but cel animation is at a completely different level.

Sure, the humour is subjective - to each his own - but you have to recognize that technically this is quite an accomplishment.

Clearly they don't. Add in the age and skill level and budget of the artists at the time for bonus points.

Hi All,

This is my first post here. In 1997 a friend and I made an animated film on A1200's that was shown on Central TV. At the weekend I found an AmigaGuide I wrote at the time (almost like a diary) on the making of. I decided it was time to post the film on YouTube. Although I find the film quite primitive and difficult to watch now it reminds me of very good times with the Amiga :)

That really good and had excellent production quality.

I went to Berkeley CA once and went to a movie theater (forget the name) which was showing several short animated movies similar to this. I thought it was interesting and fun, but obviously not for everyone.

Don't let the naysayers tell you otherwise. Ignore them and the'll go back to Avatar and Transformers...

Thanks bbond007. Everyone's entitled to their opinion and you expect good and bad comments - especially on the internet. Doesn't bother me :)

Amiga users have always been a creative bunch.  This is great work for the equipment you had, and I'm sure would require one hell of a lot of time, effort and skill to construct.
The best I could probably achieve would be a stick man animation or something, and I'm guessing that would be about the same level of ability of some of the other amiga.org users on here. :)

Hi,

@Dalemation,

Don't take anything I said as real if you saw it LIKE ARGO DID, I was just trying to stir up the pot a little. I am one of the biggest trolls on the Amiga.org website. Just trying to have a little fun with the players on the site.

You know Argo is getting as bad as that Karlos, they don't want you to have any fun on this site anymore.

I don't know who is worse Karlos or Argo, Argo or Karlos, doesn't matter which way you say it.
It still comes out the same NO FUN.

So, Dalemation, if you felt that this was a personal attack on you, I apologize. I thought your show was pretty good. (Not as good as some of my stuff, I am prejudiced don't you know) but really it was really fun to watch.

smerf

Guess I will just go back to the boring tech junk, can't stir up the pot anywhere these days. Now I know why Franko left. (heh heh wanna bet)
