IBrowse 2.x needs a 68020 or higher, and Robert's A2000 only has a 68000. IBrowse 1.2 was the last version of IBrowse that will run on his setup. AMosaic and Aweb will also work. None of them are particularly stable, and Aweb probably renders pages best of the three choices.

Actually IBrowse 1.22 is very stable and not so much different from IBrowse 2.x series. It lacks Javascript and tabbing and crashes in low mem situations but generally it never crash. Too bad there are no websites IBrowse could display properly at this age...

I see a lot of posts about crashing with AWeb. Are you sure you configured this program correctly?

I'll admit that I didn't mess with it much. Ibrowse worked more "out of the box" so I just stuck with that after trying it out.

You are probably right about IBrowse 1.22, I actually made a mistake thinking I was using 1.22 all this time, but it's only 1.2. So it's actually IBrowse 1.2 that comes for free on Aminet CD 24, not 1.22. Unfortunately I can't find 1.22 or an update online anywhere, although it definitely was the last 1.x version.

The problem people are most-likely having with AWeb crashing are the Datatypes they're using. Do some tests to see which type of images are causing the crashes (JPEG/GIF/PNG) and try some replacement Datatypes for those.

I had mad datatype related crashes in other online applications so that's probably what was messing me up.

I set up IBrowse 1.22 on my A600 a few years ago, and yes, it was VERY hard to find the patches. I believe I finally got them from an Amiga Format or CU Amiga cover CD, either directly or through an offline mirror of HiSoft/Omnipresence's website. I'm pretty sure I saved the files, but unfortunately that A600 is not nearby at the moment.

ISOs of the cover CDs can be found fairly easily online...

had ibrowse registered up to 2.4 (3)? 020+ can't remember, Voyager registered 020+ was a little faster at the time.  I do remember using Amosaic on a 68000 machine, but I wouldn't even bother using anything more sophisticated than that.  Sounds like something that might be "possible" but just a pain in the arse.

Thanks! I have nearly all of the Amiga magazine cover CDs from Amiga Format, CU Amiga and Amiga Active (And CD32 Gamer) so I'll start searching through them for the update.

Good luck! I don't know why I didn't throw the patches onto Aminet at the time, but suggest you do so if you find them.

I missed the bit about him having an 68000 ;-)

Is anyone still Mosaic 1 or 2? Would be interested to experiment with this browser again.
