MY CF does not show up in WINUAE
« on: September 09, 2011, 09:11:10 PM »
HI,

I want to amiga format a CF Card, partition it and install WB3.1 on it from my adf disks using WINUAE. However I am stuck at step 0! When I opt in WINUAE to add a hard drive and select the CF card, on restarting the amiga emulation, the card does not show up in Workbench so I cant format it etc etc.

Controlle UAE
Read/write selected

 WHY this is happening?

Create a workbench install on a hardfile first.  Then, connect the CF and do just like you did before in winuae.

When you boot into workbench, change tooltypes for hdtoolbox to uaedf.device or uaehd.device (something like that) and you will be able to partition/format the drive.  :)

Hmm can you elaborate for a resurected newbie like me?

I have WB3.1 bootable adf, but what you mean / how make a WB3.1 bootable hardfile? FYI, I just have setup Classic WB hardfile and it loads lots of stuff (still exploring)

Many thanks

Ok, you're already half way there!  Just load winuae, set it so the System.hdf is your main bootable drive, and then set the compact flash as another drive.

Boot up winuae with those settings.  Go to hdtoolbox and right click it, then set the tooltype to use uaehf.device instead of scsi.device.  When you do that, save it, and then double-click the hdtoolbox icon, and you can use uaehf.device to format and partition your compact flash.  Make sure you name id DH0: and set it as bootable.  After that, you can format it and use directory opus to copy all of the files from your amiga setup over to the compact flash...then it should work!
