Finished my "Cheapo" scandouble/FF mod
« on: September 08, 2011, 03:07:30 AM »
So I finally had some time to test this scandobler/FF board a bit more board, its this one

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330605923350

I had been using with an external power supply after I made the cables, now did some more testing and consider it working. Minor artifacts when moving the cursor (couldn't capture it) and some noise in the blacks but overall not bad for $35

Installed internally using 5V from the power supply (towered A1200) and works really well, at least until new Indivisions come out for the 1200

I have same scan doubler, does not work in PAL resolutions (at least in my case). In NTSC interlace mode works great, very stable.
The moving mouse artifact is visible, its like a circle around the pointer during movements.

Although it's a nice mod, you need to make:
- An VGA extension and mount it on a backplate's bracket so the VGA cable won't be inside the tower :)
- An custom connector that will get the signal from a 23pin connector and exist on the same bracket as well :)

Not hard to make both these hacks and result will be full of win!
