The Return of the A600
« on: September 06, 2011, 06:13:08 PM »
Hi Folks,

Once an addict, always an addict...:nervous:
I sold my Amiga 600HD and 1084S quite a while ago but recently decided I want to  buy another Amiga 600HD for game development and maybe playing some old games. I'm thinking of leaving some notices up around my neighbourhood as someone may have one gathering dust in their back shed.

Favourites that come to mind are:
Black Crypt
International Karate +
Lure of the Tempress
Mega lo Mania
Populous 2
Simon the Sorcerer

Somewhat regret ever selling my A600HD as it was the most fun computer I ever owned.

Previously I also had a C64 with modified Kernal and some sort of freezer cartridge that I can't remember. Also had a 1541 II disk-drive with well over 100 games. Sold it years ago to purchase my A600HD.

A far as I know the old Vic20, my dad's C64 and C128 are still over at my mum's place. Unfortunately I think she recently threw out all the floppy disks!
Thermaltake Matrix
(Soon to be Thermaltake Chaser Mk-1 - yet to install)
Gigabyte P55A-UD3R
Intel Core i5 750 2.66GHz
Geil Black Dragon DDR3 4GB Kit
GeForce GT 320 1024MB

Current Project: Minecraft Server.

Soon: Amiga 600HD.
Lead me to the cliff top, for I am a Lemming!

Now is a great time to get back into the 600. There are a slew of new expansions available for them!

BTW, that has to be the most disturbing Avatar I've seen to date! ;)

Definitely, for the minor difference in price, grab an A1200.  I've had every single model of Amiga, and it was the most cost effective/capable machine given a mild accelerator and WHDload.  The A600 was cute, but I believe the A630 accelerator supply has dried up and unaccelerated they left something to be desired.

In spring this year my brother-in-law traded an A600 with me, and since then, I've bought some expansions for it, an ACA630/25, a 2MB Chip expansion, and soon there'll be an Indivision ECS flickerfixer. In the past, I wasn't a big fan of the A600, because it was so limited. But now, with 030 and 32MB RAM, it's a great gaming machine, and I'm really enjoying this great device.. One thing I sometimes miss is AGA for some demos, but not for games.

I am so happy I have not sold my A500 and A1200. Incredibly 75% of the floppies works fine on the A500, after 10years of hibernation. I also expected the floppy to have got jammed , but no, its working fine too.

@XDelusion
In that case I'll take your avatar as a reaction to my avatar!
Is
she going to faint, vomit or scream? Wahahahahahahaha!

Seriously though, I only look like that at night!

Thanks for the links!

I will definitely look into getting a VGA connection, memory expansion, internal flashcard, LAN, USB port(s), etc. It's going to be fun! :D

I may get an A1200 at a later time. For now though, I just want the baby.
