Not sure if this is interesting, but I'll share anyway :-)

It's already about 2 years since I did this mod, and it was meant to be cleaned up. But time flies...

Here is my C64DTV with more or less all mods done do it.

-Video Fix (Svideo out)
-Joyport 1+2
-It is USB powered (e.g. from a laptop)
-It has C64DTV-III cardreader installed and native kernal with JiffyDOS
-PS/2 Keyboard connector
-IEC port for external 1541 disk drive when needed

I re-used a ISDN adapterbox -- carved out some slots and threw it together.

The LCD display shows the D64 files on the memorycard and the buttons on top of the box is used to navigate up&down and select the D64 files :-)

BTW: The LCD has a nice blue blacklight :)

Nope :) I wanted to add one, but I just did not really find anything I could us it for in this mod. Only think I used the user port for on my real c64 was for a rs232 adapter to connect my modem. And I used the D0-D7 input ports to digitize stuff, but I do not need it on my DTV :)

What I WOULD have loved, was a cartridge port. That would have rocked. I cannot understand why it was not added by Jeri when she designed the unit.

I love the mod! Awesome extra stuff there you put inside mate. \o/
You should put all the innards to a better looking casing though. This old used plastic case doesn't look right with the nice modding.

Nice stuff!
I have a DTV64, given as birthday present from a friend of mine.
But I need another unit to mod it.  :)

From Jeri on the PETSCII Forums, DTVHacking section, Dec. 10, 2004,

"BTW. It's only a cheap toy with cheap parts and not meant to be 100%."

Also throw in the short development time of the DTV, and it's a wonder that so much *was* included.

A hell of a nice job.  Unfortunately I have trouble soldering to pieces of wire together so I'll stick to my Chameleon64.

Great work though.  I always like to see something taken well beyond what it was designed for.

Hehe....I had the same in mind. So I bought TWO units at the shop when they were available. One to mod, the other to keep as original :)

Thanks :) This box was simply what I found in the trashcan outside my office, but it was plastic -- so easy to cut (or melt ..with the iron..hehe). I just needed a cabinet so put things inside so it did not get broken.

And now I bought a dremel tool, so I can make all the nice slots and holes and buy a cool plastic box and mount everything inside. Yeah :) It's gonna be great...and it's gonna take maaany hours...but that's the fun part :)

Nice. But I am not sure if the DTV has ALL the userport pins needed. I think it only has the dataports D0 to D7 and not the other ones....or am I wrong ?

It would be SUPERCOOL to solver The COMET to the DTV...that would make it a KICK ASS UNIT !!!!!!!
