I see a boing ball and "500". I'm guessing they are going to release the X500?.
Maybe a lower end all in one keyboard version of the X1000?

It could also be an Amiga-Pad - but a real one...

I know that A-Eon is in partnership with Hyperion but are you implying that A-Eon is in partnership with ACube? It seems that the X1000 is still a ways off (although I have seen pics of testers with actual boards). Based on the X1000 what type of machine would an X500 be? Or am I way off base here?

Maybe just a SAM board in "The Daddy's" X500 case?
If true, I would hope the case is extremely professionally manufactured.

I'm not sure why companies need to build up expectations like this. The day they announce anything at all, the whole community will be talking about it anyway.

From what I can tell our imaginations kick into overdrive about some Amiga saving new wonder product so we can't help but be disappointed.

They should just release when it's ready and be done with it or tell us WTF it is a few weeks early so we can save our cash.

If they lead us on for a few weeks and then reveal some product that is 2 years off, they deserve all the flack they get.

I first thought - well, they use the AMCC 460 in their current products.

So is there an AMCC 500 series chip? Turns out that currently there isn't.

Anyway, the AMCC 460ex actually uses a PowerPC 440 core. There is a PowerPC 460 core as well - the AMCC APM86190 uses two PowerPC 465 cores at up to 1.5GHz.

There is also a PowerPC 470 core, but it doesn't appear to be used in much. You can get quad-core at up to 2GHz or so on a 45nm process apparently.

It's only a couple of weeks away, probably best to wait to see what they're up to.

While I like Acube I would suggest them to not do a "What is X" kind of stunt. That was just pathetic.
Anyway, Acube have the benefit of a good track record, I hope they keep track.

Well with the 500 and boing ball probably something fun. Lets hope its the x500 that would be pretty cool. I've always thought that the amiga wedge designs were the coolest amigas. besides, my first Amiga was a 500

@Zylsea

Yeah, that "what is X"  is kind of embarassing now.. :(

It's a FPGA Arcade Minimig in an A500 style case called the "Minimig 500", the later version with Jacub's 68060 board will be called the "Minimig 1200".

or probably not.  ;)

Unfortunately, the massive marketing industry has made these kinds of stupid shenanigans omnipresent, and apparently companies like A-Eon and now ACube have convinced themselves that if they want to play with the big companies, they have to squander time and money on stupid promo stunts like the big companies too :/
