I am creating a new retro site
« on: August 07, 2011, 01:19:09 AM »
A few years back I created VintageAmiga.com along with several other vintage sites. I have decided to combine them all into one large site. When I am done, it will have over 700 pages.

I will have all major retro computer manufacturers, console makers and retro games.

So far I just have Apple and Commodore machines (http://RetroGameAndComputer.com).

I'd appreciate your thoughts on the Amiga content. Now, I am off to add the Atari and ZX Spectrum content.

Thanks,
Simon

I see many of you have visited my site. If it is not too much trouble would you please take a look at my Amiga content and provide critical feedback. I want to make sure that section is top shelf. I got my first Amiga when I was 17 (and A500).

When I created VintageAmiga.com with a friend, we had issues and we closed it. This time I am doing everything myself. This time I want to include all computers and consoles of the time as I feel the competition was a major part of the 1980 dynamic and lead to Commodores's fall.

Any critical information is greatly appreciated. Especially any information I have left out.

Once I have done a first pass of the site, I plan to add an amiga peripherals section.

Thanks,
Simon

While I actually like the colorset and the layout, I do think there are to many adds.
And all those adds makes me not want to visit the site more than once.

Wot yssing said.  It really is "ad overload".

Also, everything I click on says "page not found" so apart from the main page (which does look quite nice... apart from the ads) I can't really comment.

The "Retro Game & Computer" box on the right has to go or be fixed.
It's the most obvious to klick and full of dead links..

And, I appreciate the fact that you mention the ST on the Amiga page, but a picture of it????

I can comment.
Why?
Aren't there enough sites covering this?

Doesn't work with IE9 (drop down menus). Firefox works, as well as Opera.

Main page looks fine. No advertisements here thanks to AdBlock.

The links in 'Retro Computer', on the left side, seems to work fine.

My mind boggles to think anyone would browse web without adblock.

I've tried that (and just tried it again) with the same error.  Using AOL 9.6 here.  Perhaps I should power up the A4000 and try AWeb or IBrowse.  :)

it looks a little bit too similar to Amiga History Guide to me if I am honest.
I love my MX5!

The site needs a modern browser with CSS. ie the site doesn't look good on ibrowse & aweb. And with netsurf which has css the links on the leftside, 'home' & 'retro computer' are completely gone.

Ah, cheers.  I'll save myself the effort then.  :)

Adblock doesn't work too well with linux. Can you reccomend a better one?
Even my cat doesn\'t like me.
