A2000HD: Is this a good deal?
« on: August 01, 2011, 10:47:09 AM »
Hello All,

I have the option of buying an A2000HD, the seller claims that it features 1 MB Chip RAM

and 4 MB Fast RAM (on SupraRAM card). Among other features are A2091 SCSI Controller with 50MB HD and additional SCSI Controller (Dataflyer model) with 80MB Hard drive. It is also fitted with a DKB Kickstart Switcher (with 1.3 and 2.04 installed). The A2000 features a Revision 6 motherboard. The seller also removed the battery in order to prevent damages to the surrounding traces or chips.

He is asking for $125 for it (it also comes with a 1084S-D1 monitor). Is this a good deal? Should I buy it?

Thanks in advance for your comments and insights!
Kind Regards,
CodeHunter

With monitor, Kickswitcher, 2 HD's, et al.  I wouldn't hesitate to pay that.  Providing it's local pick up!

Shipping charges would kill you!

Ditto.  If it's local or you have someone local who can pick it up. All that gear is worth that price.
Just make sure everything is working...

Sounds like a bargain.  I have the Rev 6.2 mobo and that one allows you to change it from NTSC to PAL with the help of a sharp knife and then fit a switch if you want to toggle between the two.

Excellent.  Any plans to upgrade it?  A CPU card with some extra RAM would be a good start, or a SDFF.

Yes, great deal.  That monitor model alone typically sells for $70-100 on eBay.

It has 4MB Fast RAM, but I still can not play Alien Bash 2 on it! (with either 1.3 or 2.01 Kickstart).

You're not trying to run the AGA version of it on an OCS/ECS machine are you?

How do I switch between PAL and NTSC for games? Is there a special hot key for this? Or am I at the mercy of the cracking group discretion which had enabled this function?

Thanks!
